Whats the fastest way to build up credit from zero?

Me and my fiance keep getting denied for apartments. My mom has not good enough credit as a co signer or as a tenant. My fiance has bad credit and i have zero..all three of us=denied. So i thought since i dont have any credit..i should try and get some. I need the absolute fastest ways to build credit up. Also the least costing also.
