1997 plymouth breeze spits and studders?

is your check engine light on? have you taken it to a parts store to get the codes pulled from the computer(i think on mopars from that year range, you can just turn the key on and off several times quick and the check engine light will blink code the trouble codes) if no codes, it could be a misinidexed distributor(just went through that issue on my 92 dakota) or bad fuel, if a new issue i would guess bad fuel, put a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the tank, run it close to empty, and change the fuel filter see if that helps.
